Hippy Waffles

Whole grains make these waffles appeal to the health nuts in your group.


  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together:
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 3/4 cups skim milk
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine:
  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
  • 1/2 cup flax seed meal
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ or oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • Add the contents of the small bowl to the large bowl, beat until thoroughly mixed.

  • Preheat a waffle iron, and coat with cooking spray. Use 2/3 cup in a 7" round
  • waffle iron, and cook until crisp and golden brown.
